What is the most difficult part about transitioning from wholesale to manufacturing?

1 - I believe the most challenging aspect of transitioning your products to private label manufacturing is the necessity to purchase in significant quantities. For medium-sized items, the Minimum Order Requirement {MOQ} often ranges from 1000 to 3000 units. In contrast, wholesale purchases might only demand quantities of 6 or 24 units at a time. There are instances when your business might not have achieved the sales volume required to buy such products in quantities of 1000. And this is perfectly acceptable. It's important to establish a prioritized list for your products, indicating when to make the transition to manufacturing.

Nonetheless, sometimes you should locate smaller factories willing to produce in reduced quantities. This is a suggestion we frequently offer to our clients. Yet, there are a couple of considerations when procuring lower quantities from such manufacturers. Occasionally, these factories might opt for more economical materials, and their workforce could still be undergoing training in the manufacturing procedures.

2 - Another challenging aspect of transitioning from wholesale to manufacturing is the financial aspect. Your capital becomes locked in as you're obligated to provide an initial deposit upon contract agreement. Subsequently, the remaining payment is typically due around 30 to 40 days later.

I emphasize to our clients that the majority of orders usually require approximately four months from the initial down payment until they are delivered to your doorstep. This timeline holds true even for straightforward orders that commence production promptly.

At the very least, you must adhere to FTC regulations, Child Safety Requirements, Proposition 65 standards, and if you're an Amazon Seller, comply with Amazon's stipulations. Thorough research into your product's compliance prerequisites prior to placing a manufacturing order is crucial.
